I laid down the basis of the Come Away riddim in a hotel room in Coventry at the start of a family summer holiday in UK back in 2013. During the trip we stayed with Paul Fox and his family for a couple of days. One late night Paul and me sat down in his "Sound Bussiness" Studio and we worked further on the idea. Drums, horns intro, chops and organ were already sat down and Paul came up with a tuff bassline, some low piano and soon found a hook for the chorus. Later that summer I was booked to play Reggae Geel Festival and Paul was one of the singers to join me (next to Saimn-I, Collieman and Moonshine horns). So we were eager to add the song to the set list. Back home I involved the horns totranslate my synthhorns intro and add more licks to Pauls demo. Paul in the meantime scribbled out his verses while I drew some raw mixes of the riddim so we could perform it with live horns. Somehow I had the intention to work the track to release but we kept playing those raw riddim mixes through out the years. Probably just the fact that we had mixes to play and there is always plenty of work at the forefront in the UFO studio. During that period playing them out Saimn-I was quickly to capture a vibe and his counteraction "Jah Bless" was born. The Moonshine boys came up with their alternative take and so it became 3 cuts on the riddim. I think we finally recorded it all down in 2014 but somehow never managed to pick the project up. After being part of the live set for couple of years the "Come Away" riddim made way for other tracks. Recently it got back to my attention and it has resurfaced. I made a commitment to finish it of and breath new life in the project. We played it out again in sessions running up the Covid lockdown and still drops big. I don't want them to linger anymore and release it on all digital platforms so all you can enjoy it in these weird times. "Come Away, Come Away with me, Come Away, Come Away and let us be free ..."
